About us
The Mitre Tavern has stood on the corner of Baker Street and Kingsbury Road since the mid-19th century, a proper neighbourhood pub shaped by the working streets around it.
The name comes from craft rather than church. A mitre is a precision joint used in woodworking, and the pub’s earliest known landlord was a wheelwright by trade. In a district once filled with carpenters, joiners and small workshops, The Mitre was named for the skills of its community — a link still reflected in the woodworking imagery on the building today.
Built as a place to gather at the end of the working day, The Mitre remains what it has always been: a friendly corner local, rooted in craft, conversation and continuity.
